Earned, not luck

So I workout, I workout a lot and I feel like I’ve always maintained a healthy weight…..except when there’s a little bun in the oven!! Unfortunately I have struggled with food choices and when I was pregnant I went with emotional eating and not very clean healthy nutritious choices.

Baby number one, gained around 50 lbs and dropped 40 of it by the time he was 6 months. Yeah I was also 24 & because I was naturally thin my metabolism was definitely still working for me. Oh and I never lost the last 10.

Baby number two, gained a little less than 40 lbs and dropped all of it by the time Elle was 6 months. She stopped breast feeding at 4 months and I basically went the unhealthy route and took diet pills….not the best choice!

Baby number three, our Brooklyn Danae, the child that sparked something in our relationship that we needed!! Lots of emotional eating though, gained 65+ lbs. I was so ready to have a newborn again and loved breast feeding my baby so I decided to do it for 20 months…. Breast feeding makes me hungrier! It took about 14 months to lose the weight and being 33 made a big difference in my body ‘letting go’ of those unwanted pounds. Lots of clean foods, cardio sessions and plenty of weight lifting.

Then just when I feel like I’m healthier than ever our biggest surprise happens and I’m pregnant with baby number four. Again I gained over 60 lbs and AGAIN my body wanted to hold on to that weight. I’m back to pre-baby weight and have been for about two months and yep she’s still Breast fed too. Peyton is 14 months old and I turned 36 in July.

The reason I’m giving all these details is because things can take time. But more importantly let’s not discount the work, effort, sweat and energy!!!! I try not to judge others but some physiques are definitely built more aesthetically pleasing and sometimes I say oh wow they’ve got great genes. Maybe not….maybe they’ve also done 5 million squats like I’m trying to accomplish and that’s why they have this amazingly perfect darriere?!?! When somebody makes a comment about losing weight because you HAD a baby????? Seriously that’s not why I have this ‘shape’ I have, if anything it’s soooo much harder. Lifting weights on two hour sleep increments, planning gym time around a feeding schedule, naps are a must and sometimes they happen at the most inopportune time…..so basically no I did not lose 60 lbs because I had my baby! I work hard to maintain a healthy view as a Mother, Wife and as a woman striving to be a healthy role model.

I applaud all you mothers out there….whether you’re losing weight, figuring out a breast feeding schedule, working on naps, trying to get dinner on the table, working a full time job, laundry laundry laundry, being a taxi, giving baths, blowing on owies, or kissing a tear…. Make the time, they will get used to it & more importantly… You’re worth it!!!! Xxoo

Oh and a little P.S., woman who says I lost weight due to child birth, I believe you were looking for a way to shed some lb’s yourself & my guess is you’ve never gotten back to that all eluded ‘pre pregnancy’ body either…. Ya my point exactly 😳😉
